Project Role
Furniture & Lightning Design

Inspired by the style of the 1970s, the project pays homage to Mario Pani, architect of the original building and a key figure in Mexican architecture.

I was responsible for the design and production of much of the furniture, including chairs, armchairs, side tables, and luminaires.

The project begins with the luminaires for the entrance lounges, inspired by the work of George Nelson, as well as the design of the tables and sofas for this space. Next come the bar luminaires, custom-made in blown glass. The hanging luminaires for the main hall were also developed, produced using a nearly obsolete artisanal technique that uses fine brass tubing to assemble glass panels. The architect’s proposal called for a grid ceiling with a scale-like texture, referencing the seafood theme of the space. I also redesigned the side booth with period-appropriate tufted upholstery.

Finally, I developed the special furniture for the private area, which included the central hanging luminaire, the table, chairs, and credenza, as well as the selection of certain decorative elements for the space.
